Our Signature Leathers

Lambskin Leather

► Shop Lambskin Jackets

Lambskin is the softest leather we work with. It has a buttery, supple texture that feels comfortable from the very first wear no stiff break-in period needed. The lightweight grain drapes naturally over the body, making it ideal for slim-fit jackets, blazers, and styles where you want a refined, polished silhouette.

  • Texture: Ultra-soft with a smooth, fine grain that moulds to your shape over time.
  • Sourcing: Ethically sourced from vetted tanneries as a by-product of the food industry.
  • Tanning: Processed with minimal environmental impact using responsible tanning methods.
  • Best for: Everyday wear, smart-casual styling, and anyone who prioritises comfort and a sleek finish.

Best for Canadian weather: Lambskin is perfect for Vancouver's mild winters and Toronto's autumn and spring shoulder seasons. Light enough to wear over a t-shirt on crisp fall evenings, and slim enough to layer under a heavy parka on colder days making it one of the most versatile year-round options for Canadian city life.

Cowhide Leather

► Shop Cowhide Jackets

Cowhide is the toughest leather in our collection. It's thicker, more structured, and built to handle years of hard wear without losing its shape. Over time, cowhide develops a rich patina a natural ageing process that gives each jacket a unique character no two pieces share.

  • Texture: Firm, rugged grain with a substantial weight that softens with wear.
  • Sourcing: Responsibly sourced hides processed with eco-friendly methods to reduce chemical runoff.
  • Durability: The most hard-wearing option a well-cared-for cowhide jacket can last 20+ years.
  • Best for: Motorcycle jackets, biker styles, outdoor wear, and anyone who wants a jacket that ages beautifully with daily use.

Best for Canadian weather: The obvious choice for Canada's harshest climates  Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Regina Prairie winters where temperatures drop to –20°C and below. Thick enough to block bitter wind chill, and tough enough to handle snow, salt, and daily outdoor exposure without breaking down. A well-maintained cowhide jacket is a true Canadian winter investment.

Suede Leather

► Shop Suede Jackets

Suede is made from the inner side of the hide, giving it a velvety, napped finish that looks and feels distinctly different from smooth leather. It has a softer, more textured appearance that adds warmth and depth to any outfit making it a favourite for transitional seasons and layered styling.

  • Texture: Velvety, brushed finish with a refined, tactile quality.
  • Sourcing: Resource-efficient tanning that reduces water and energy use during processing.
  • Versatility: Works across casual, smart-casual, and semi-formal settings with equal ease.
  • Best for: Spring and autumn wear, relaxed weekend outfits, and anyone who wants a softer alternative to smooth leather.

Best for Canadian weather: Best suited for Vancouver's mild, dry winters and Ontario's spring and autumn seasons (April to June, September to October). Important: suede is not water-resistant extra care is needed during Montreal's rainy springs and Toronto's slushy winters. Apply a suede protector spray before wearing in wet conditions.

Why Real Leather Over Synthetic?

Every leather jacket at FJackets is made from 100% genuine leather. We don't use PU, PVC, bonded leather, or any synthetic substitutes. Here's why that matters:

  • It breathes naturally: Real leather regulates body temperature warm in winter, cool in summer in a way synthetics can't match.
  • It improves with age: Genuine leather softens, develops patina, and becomes more comfortable over time. Faux leather peels and cracks within 1–2 years.
  • It lasts decades: A quality real leather jacket, properly cared for, will outlast anything synthetic by years.

Ethically Sourced, Responsibly Made

All our leather is a by-product of the food industry no animals are raised solely for their hides. We partner with tanneries that follow responsible environmental practices and workshops that maintain fair, safe working conditions. Every step of our supply chain is designed to reduce waste, minimise chemical impact, and support ethical production.

We believe premium quality and responsible sourcing aren't opposites they go hand in hand. Read more about the sustainable side of leather and how we approach it.

Caring for Your Leather

The right care routine keeps your leather looking and feeling its best for years. A few simple habits make all the difference:

  • Hang on a wide hanger after each wear to maintain shape.
  • Condition the leather every 3–6 months to keep it supple.
  • Spot clean with a damp cloth never machine wash.
  • Store in a breathable garment bag, away from heat and direct sunlight.

Canadian climate tip: Canada's dry indoor heating in winter is one of the biggest threats to leather. Forced-air furnaces pull moisture from the air, which causes leather to dry out, stiffen, and eventually crack. If you're in Alberta, Manitoba, or Saskatchewan where heating runs hard from October to April, condition your jacket every 3 months during winter. Keep jackets away from heating vents and radiators even brief exposure causes drying damage.
